Local authorities said that the accident occurred at 7:30pm on 2 June and 14 miners were underground. The work safety administration of Xingtai said that eight miners managed to escape and one was dead.
The trapped miners were all rescued by 2:10pm on 3 June, Xinhua reported citing the coal mine publicity department.
The latest incident comes after a colliery gas burst on 25 May at Yushe Coal Mine in Shuicheng County, Guizhou Province, China that left five miners dead and four others missing.
China is planning to shut down 2,000 small coal mines to improve safety and efficiency in its mining industry. According to the Chinese Government, 1,049 workers died in mine accidents in 2013 lower than 1,384 killed in 2012.
