The project will be developed by Southern Off-shore Wind Power Joint Development Company, which is controlled by China Southern Power Grid.

The contract includes delivery of 29 3MW super compact drive (SCD) wind turbine generators, turbine towers, foundation structures and project management services.

Ming Yang chairman and CEO Chuanwei Zhang said this bid marks an important milestone in the practical commercial off-shore tender in Guangdong Province and in China and Ming Yang has managed to secure a substantial part of the first tranche of this tender available using its SCD technology.

"This is a clear endorsement of Ming Yang’s SCD technology, and heralds a new phase of off-shore wind power generation in China," Zhang added.

Construction of the wind farm is likely to start in October 2013 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
