The new water line construction represents an investment of about $1.5m to provide improved water service to support growth in the west side of the city.

Twehous Excavating is installing the new water line and the project is scheduled for completion in mid-May 2012.

Jefferson City Operations Supervisor Gilbert Cole said the company has invested about $12m in upgrading 60- to 100-year-old pumps and pipes during the last 18 months.

"This new water line will supplement our current water delivery to the west side of town. It will improve the reliability of service and support growth in that area," Cole said.

Missouri American Water, a subsidiary of American Water, is a water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to approximately 1.5 million people.
