The firms signed a non-exclusive cooperation agreement to offer broad range of solutions to meet specific local conditions globally.

The deal was signed following the meeting between the French and Japanese Prime Ministers, on 5 October 2015 held in Tokyo.

Under the terms of the agreement, the firms will develop their collaboration to cover a wide range of technologies and solutions including conventional and nuclear power plants, renewable energy technologies, distributed generation as well as the emerging technologies and innovative services.

The MoU is intended to increase energy efficiency, optimize the resources use and reduce CO2 emissions.

The agreement will also cover the development of technologies and services in order to enhance process efficiency and reduce emissions of electrical systems globally, including optimizing conventional power plants and their auxiliary and integrated facilities.

Both the companies will also collaborate in the development of efficient gas turbines, advanced solutions for combined generation of electricity, heat and hydrogen, fuel cells, monitoring systems, among others.

Engie and MHI deal will also focus on advancement of nuclear related business for providing reliable carbon-free base-load electricity to the market.

MHI president and CEO Shunichi Miyanaga said that the MoU is expected to meet customer needs using the energy resources with maximum efficiency.

Engie chairman and CEO Gérard Mestrallet said: "The concluded cooperation agreement reflects our mutual commitment to provide the most up-to-date solutions for the energy sector across the globe, and will serve as a stepping stone to pave the way to explore new opportunities for cooperation leveraging our technical expertise and past experience of working together."
