Effective 1 March 2014, the term of SOS is for one year, and the initial proposals are scheduled to be submitted on 11 December 2013.

Both CMP and BHE have requested distribution rate increases from MPUC, which will see customers bills go up by approximately $2.50 or more per month, WABI-TV reports.

Additionally, BHE also sought rise in standard cost rate, increasing the customers bills by another $1.50 per month.

The two electric transmission and distribution utilities serves customers in southern, central and eastern Maine, with total annual electricity sales of approximately ten million megawatt hours, of which 45% currently receives standard offer service.
