The project includes a solar park construction that utilizes fixed-tilt polycrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules.

The solar park will be built on a 123-acre lot located within the Imperial Irrigation District (IID) and adjacent to the Niland electric sub-station.

The project will generate enough energy to power approximately 14,000 homes and IID will buy 20MW of the energy generated by the solar park.

The estimated environmental impact for the expected life of the project over the next 40 years is equivalent to a carbon dioxide reduction of nearly one million metric tons, NADB said.

The solar park will displace greenhouse gas emissions produced by traditional fossil-fuel based energy generation.
