This is already going ahead. The process has started ahead of schedule, Ihor Didenko, Naftogaz’s deputy chief.

Only a small amount has been sent so far, but it all started the day before yesterday.

In February 2009, Didenko said Naftogaz required about $4.8 billion to make enough reserves in storage.

Naftogaz produced about 17 billion cubic meters of gas – the largest amount for over five years.

The government said it plans to offer state credits for Naftogaz to allow it to build up reserves and asked the central bank to lengthen credits at the hryvnia currency’s lower official rate of exchange to pay for Russian supplies.
