The British company’ products are based on energy disaggregation, which breaks down energy use by appliance to encourage behavioral changes to reduce energy consumption.

The latest collaboration will enable the two firms to embed Navetas’ innovative technology for home energy monitoring on TII’s processor platforms.

UK-based Navetas said this will allow it to quickly expand its technology, which can monitor appliance-level energy use from a single point in real time, into new smart meter and smart grid systems.

Commenting on the partnership, Navetas chief executive Chris Saunders said, "It clearly demonstrates the global potential of energy disaggregation technology as the burgeoning home energy monitoring sector begins to scale around the world."

TII Smart Grid product line general manager Markus Staeblein remarked, "The energy sector is a key growth market for Texas Instruments as the implementation of smart meters and smart grids lead to greater demand for processing power throughout the energy supply chain."
