Adjacent to the existing hydropower plant in Balforsen, NCC will construct a new power station with a third turbine. Balforsen is located approximately 10km west of Lycksele, and the existing hydropower plant has two turbines.
Richard Mattsson, business manager of NCC Construction Sweden, Norrland Region, said: “In recent years, we have constructed several of Sweden’s major hydropower plants, including Kvarnforsen, outside Sveg.”
The project, which is conditional upon a definitive decision by E.ON and water-rights approval, is scheduled to commence between September 2010 and January 2011, depending on when such a ruling is received.
