The investment will be utilised to improve process, fire, and personnel safety by modernizing process automation and automated safety systems.
At Naantali refinery, two process furnaces will be replaced, and a new, safer office space for personnel will be built at Porvoo refinery.
Finnish firm Metso will supply the new automation and safety systems to Neste Oil, as part of the framework contract signed.
Neste Oil’s process, occupational and fire safety manager Jonas Liimatta said that the firm will also give extensive and proactive safety training to both its personnel and contractors as part of its commitment to creating an industry-leading safety mindset at Neste Oil.
