The company will use Telvent technology to replace many of its existing systems, combining energy management into a single integrated platform.

The advanced DMS will include SCADA, distribution management and outage management functionalities.

In addition, the system will provide the core technology for Unison Networks to modernize its present and future electric grid.

With these technology solutions, Unison Networks would be able to optimize its smart grid capabilities through the analysis of real-time data and self-healing automation.

Telvent chairman and CEO Ignacio Gonzalez said, "We are pleased to embark on smart grid development in New Zealand. Telvent continues to be a leader in systems integration and preparing the electric industry for a modern distribution grid."

The Spanish company said the integrated system and unified data analytics will provide valuable time and cost savings. Additionally, with just one system to maintain and monitor, Unison could provide greater network reliability to its customers.
