During the last several years, Newfield Exploration has gathered a considerable inventory of exploration prospects in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The company owns interests in 88 deepwater blocks (about 500,000 gross acres). It is planning to drill three to five deepwater Gulf of Mexico wells annually over the next several years.
