The plant would use cassava as feedstock and would require 10,000 hectares of cassava plantation to supply its demand.

The company is currently in the process of securing environment compliance clearance (ECC) for the project which will be located at Barangays Mambuaya and Bayanga in Cagayan de Oro, the newspaper said.

The funding for the project is yet to be firmed up.

The company may likely tap government financial institutions like Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and the Land Bank of the Philippines, according to the newspaper.
