The €655 million Nobelwind offshore wind farm has achieved financial close, the lenders’ technical advisor has announced.

Mott MacDonald says that the project, located 45 km off the Belgian coast at Ostend, will have a capacity of 165 MW and will be completed by the end of 2017. The firm acted as lenders’ technical advisor during financing and will monitor construction in an ongoing role.

Nobelwind will consist of fifty 3.3 MW MHI Vestas wind turbines connected to the Belgian grid by an export cable. It will be Belgium’s fourth large-scale offshore wind farm.

Nobelwind NV, a project vehicle created by Parkwind, is developing the project in conjunction with Sumitomo.
