The new Seine River Gauche Nord (SRN) project is said to be the company’s largest wind farm in the country.
Located in the north of France, the wind farm comprises 30 units of N100/2500 turbines that have been specially designed so as not to interfere with operation of the radar station, the company said.
The wind farm has the capacity to generate 183GWh of clean electricity annually which will be enough to power close to 50,000 households. It also has a capacity factor of around 30%.
It has been developed by Nordex and H2air and has been set up on a turnkey basis for the investor KGAL Investment Management.
Nordex CEO Lars Bondo Krogsgaard said: "France is a market with great potential for the future. With our ‘SRN’ project we have once again demonstrated that we are well able to meet the requirements of this market, in which we have been operating for more than 15 years.
"Our local partners in France now know that thanks to our experience we can also im-plement even the most complex projects with them."
The French government has set a target to reach a renewable power supply share of 23% by 2020 and as much as 32% by 2030.
In June this year, Nordex connected the 80MW Kouga wind farm in South Africa to the national electricity grid.
Apart from the Kouga project, Nordex Energy South Africa had also been awarded the 100MW Dorper project and the 134.4 MW Amakhala project.
