Under the contract, Nordex will supply 26 N131/3900 turbines having an installed capacity of 3.9MW each.
The scope of work includes execution of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) as well as civil and electrical engineering, manufacturing, delivery and installation of the wind turbines.
Nordex stated that it will start the production of the wind turbines later this year and the construction of the wind farm is expected to begin in 2019. In addition, the company will also operate and maintain the facility for the next ten years.
The order has been placed by Genneia, an independent power producer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The wind farm will be located in Ponoma, Rio Negro. The region has an average wind speed of 8.6m/s. With each of the turbines to be installed on 120 meter high towers, they are expected to optimally use the wind speeds in the region.
Earlier in 2017, Genneia placed two orders with a combined capacity of 148MW with Nordex. The present order comes from the RenovAr 1.5 tender that was awarded last November.
Recently, Nordex said that it crossed 2GW mark in the UK and Ireland. The company claims to have installed 862 turbines in the two countries. An additional milestone of three quarters of a gigawatt or 750MW have been installed both in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Last month, the company released its new 4MW class onshore turbine, the N149/4.0-4.5. The turbine can generate between 4MW and 4.5MW, and is said to be 28% more powerful than its 3.6MW predecessor model.
