The scope of the contract includes supply and installation of 18xN117/2400 low-wind turbines as well as construction of the foundations for the Ullersdorf project.

Nordex is likely to begin work on the foundations in early 2014 and the plant is expected to become operational in October.

Equipped with a combination of N117/2400 turbines and 141m towers, the project is likely to generate 115,900MWh of clean power annually, which is enough to power around 29,000 households and curb around 87,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

Nordex board member Lars Krogsgaard said that the contract represents that the company’s turbines make low-wind sites economically viable.

"In addition, we have in STEAG New Energies a partner by our side which has set itself clear growth targets for renewable energies," added Krogsgaard.
