The Norwegian pollution control authority, SFT, has suggested a steady introduction of biofuels into the country’s retail fuel mix and has set out a 2% biofuel component by volume in all fuels, by 2009.

The World Bank has reportedly mentioned in a report that global food prices have increased by up to 75% due to the surge in biofuel production and demand.

Erik Solheims, the Norwegian minister of environment and international development, has stated that biofuels can play a crucial role if they are based on wood and agricultural waste.
