The company has recently concluded the construction of the 60MW plant located at Point Tupper valued at $183m.
Nova Scotia Power projects senior director Roger Burton stated that the company is seeking to purchase 500,000tons of biomass fuel for the plant.
Further, the plant is expected to reach its full production capacity by summer 2013, after completion of additional testing.
The plant would create more than 200 direct and indirect jobs, Burton added.
