On 1 September, fluctuations in power output have been experienced with the control system of an emergency diesel generator.
Emergency diesel generators are the main back-up power source to the plant’s safety systems if there is a loss of offsite power and are tested regularly to ensure operability.
Region IV administrator Elmo Collins said the purpose of this special inspection is to better understand the malfunction and review the licensee’s corrective actions to ensure that the diesel generator will perform as intended.
