NRG Energy, a wholesale power generation company, has announced that Robert Flexon will return to his prior role as CFO; and John Ragan, currently president of NRG’s Northeast region, will assume the position of COO.

NRG Energy said that Andrew Murphy will move from being NRG’s general counsel to heading the Northeast region; while Michael Bramnick, currently deputy general counsel and chief compliance officer, has been named senior vice president and general counsel.

The company said that Clint Freeland, currently NRG’s CFO, will move to NRG’s strategy, mergers and acquisitions group, where he will be responsible for financial structuring for the benefit of NRG’s shareholders.

Mr Flexon returns to his previous role as CFO, a position he held from 2004 to 2008, and will oversee all aspects of NRG’s financial organization including accounting, treasury, tax, risk and credit management.

John Ragan succeeds Mr Flexon as COO, overseeing NRG’s plant operations, commercial operations, engineering, procurement and construction and environmental business. Mr Ragan joined NRG in 2006 as regional president for Northeast.

In his new role as regional president, Mr Murphy will lead NRG’s Northeast region, representing more than 7,000MW of power in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts and New York. As general counsel, Mr Bramnick will advise and support NRG on all legal matters relevant to the company in terms of compliance, governance and general business operations.
