The company is looking to invest approximately INR1,000bn ($22.3bn) over a ten-year period for this proposed Siang Upper Hydroelectric Project.

NTPC chairman and managing director Arup Roy Choudhury said that the company is now in talks with the state government for setting up the power project.

The company was asked by the Central Electricity Authority to prepare a pre-feasibility report on the power project, and it is currently preparing a detailed project report.

NTPC currently has power generating capacity of over 34,000MW from all sources of energy.
