The company said that its offering was selected by NTPC after a review by NTPC and the US Department of Energy and the decision to purchase was reached after a review and evaluation of other alternative offerings to determine the cost effective way to reduce carbon emissions and lower operating costs.

Paragon said that its sealing solutions are designed to provide efficiency while withstanding the harsh operating conditions normally encountered in airheaters, such as the typical environments found in India which have a high ash content.

Paragon’s patented design for both radial and circumferential/bypass seals surpass the original equipment manufacturing standards, minimizing leakage and provide maximum performance, durability and airheater efficiency, the company claimed.

Reducing leakage and increasing plant efficiency will enable NTPC Korba to burn less fuel thus resulting in cost savings and reduction in carbon emissions, the company added.

In addition, by reducing leakage in the airheaters the power plants are efficient reducing the amount of fuel required to produce the same energy output.
