To be located between Pajala and Overtornea in the Arctic region, the 72MW project will feature 24 Nordex N117/3000 turbines.

The project site is comprised of two clusters, each of which will host 12 wind turbines, and once operational, the project will power Google’s Hamina data centre in Finland under a 10-year power purchase agreement.

Nordex had bagged a contract in June 2013 to supply turbines for the project and provide at least 15 years of Nordex premium service.

SgurrEnergy, part of Wood Group, had completed independent energy yield prediction for Allianz using computational fluid dynamics analysis, while Allianz Capital Partners is providing a loan to construct the project and will take over its ownership once operational.

SgurrEnergy Victoria O’Connor said that the consultancy has carried out wind flow modeling in complex forestry to support Allianz in this acquisition.

"We look forward to working alongside Allianz Capital Partners as it continues to develop its renewable energy portfolio," added O’Connor.
