Part of a 400MW project being constructed for CPS Energy, Alamo 6 plant will also be one of the largest dual-axis solar projects in the world.
OCI Solar Power will develop, own and operate the plant which will feature products made in San Antonio from the company’s affiliates, including a dual-axis tracker system from Sun Action Trackers and solar modules from Mission Solar Energy, while KACO new energy will supply the inverters.
OCI Solar Power president and CEO SH Yoon said: "The Alamo 6 project will be built using components that are made exclusively in San Antonio.
"Our agreement with CPS Energy demonstrates the economic development capacity that we bring to the communities we serve. We are excited to begin construction on what will be the largest solar plant in Texas."
Spread over approximately 1,200 acres, Mortenson Construction will build the plant that is expected to add over 800 long-term jobs to the San Antonio area and close to 250 temporary jobs.
Being the largest worksite out of a total of seven associated with the overall 400MW Alamo project, Alamo 6 will be complete by the fourth quarter of 2016.
