The solar facility uses solar PV technology and is located on 38 acres on Delsea Drive.

The plant generates power from the sun using about 13,000 solar modules onsite and will power the equivalent of 2,500 homes during daylight hours.

OCI Solar Power chief operating officer Nick Bullinger said the second project on Elmer Road is expected to begin construction in early Summer 2012.

OCI Solar Power will operate the Delsea Drive solar facility and sell the electricity it produces to the Vineland Municipal Electric Utility for providing power to area homes and businesses.

The Delsea Drive project is one of 40 solar projects currently under development by OCI Solar Power.
