Gadir Solar’s plant began its operations in October 2009. The company is ramping up in record time its annual production capacity of 40MW, which is capable of producing about half a million PV panels per year.
Oerlikon Solar said that it has increased the efficiency level of thin film silicon and has developed end-to-end manufacturing platforms to facilitate customers’ entry into thin film silicon PV module manufacturing.
Jurg Henz, CEO of Oerlikon Solar, said: “This opens another important market for our leading thin film solar PV technology. European countries such as Germany, Italy and Spain could claim about 801% of PV market share this year and we see tremendous opportunity in offering companies like Gadir Solar industrial proven mass production solutions for the thin film PV industry – the fastest-growing segment of PV.”
