As a part of the Weatherford order, OI delivered five 8’x12′ control cabins that will be deployed for measurement-while-drilling (MWD) and logging-while-drilling (LWD) activities.
Specially made for harsh environment, the MWD cabins feature heavy 10-gauge steel construction, seal welded walls, spray-in insulation, and a three-coat marine-grade paint system.
The control cabins, which can be completely customised for interior configuration and designed for any certification or rating, are certified to Class 1 Division 2 standards, with lifting certifications, claimed OI.
MWD cabins, which can be used as half storage unit and half workspace, are also designed to safely store highly combustible lithium batteries.
Under the contract, OI completed and delivered the custom MWD buildings in seven weeks.
OI Buildings division vice president Ken Romero said, "It’s a great compliment to us that Weatherford continues to expand its relationship with Oilfield Instrumentation."
Earlier, OI has delivered four 8’x12′ measurement-while-drilling (MWD) buildings for US-based oilfield equipment supply company, North Point Drilling Systems for its Mexican operations.
