The Cullerin wind farm has a capacity factor of 44% and is situated close to electricity transmission infrastructure. Origin expects to start the commissioning of the wind farm in 2009.

In addition, Origin has entered into a strategic relationship agreement with an option for another 500MW of Epuron sites. When fully operational, the Cullerin wind farm is expected to save about 100,000 tonnes of carbon annually.

Origin stated that the Cullerin Range wind farm is one of the three permitted sites in New South Wales, including Conroy’s Gap and Snowy Plains at each 30MW capacity. Origin has acquired the rights to develop these two sites also.

Karen Moses, Origin’s chief operating officer, said: The Epuron deal will see Origin build its own wind facilities for the first time, deepening integration in this area. It provides Origin with greater flexibility in managing our carbon, retail and generation portfolios.
