The new company, to be owned by Toshiba (55%) and ORIX (45%), will conduct surveys of the hot spring sources in the Nakao area, well testing and environmental surveys of the surrounding area, and thereby assess the commercial viability.

If the surveys yield positive results, the company is likely to develop a 2MW geothermal power plant featuring Toshiba-made Geoportable system and expects to start power generation in 2015.

Additionally, the companies will collaborate with Nakao Hot Springs for geothermal energy business development in the hot-spring area.
