Ormat has signed a supply contract and an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the first stage of the Ngatamariki geothermal project.

Construction of the power plant is scheduled to take two years.

The Ngatamariki geothermal project is expected to increase its geothermal capacity to 43% by 2013, according to globes.co.il.

Ormat CEO Yehudit Bronicki said the EPC contract would be the first geothermal deal for the company.

Ormat Technologies chairman and CTO Lucien Bronicki said on completion the power plant will bring the total installed capacity of Ormat’s technology in New Zealand to approximately 350MW in 14 plants.
