The company drilled the well as a vertical well to a total depth of 3,658m below mean sea level in layers of Lower Jurassic/Triassic age.

The well encountered about 17m of net pay in high quality sandstones in the primary Middle Jurassic target.

According to the company, the well site sample analysis shows the reservoir fluid to be gas with some condensate.

The well has established a gross hydrocarbon column of at least 230m from the crest of the structure down to the base of the column encountered in the well.

PA Resources said a sidetrack will now be drilled to assess the potential for additional gas volumes down-dip.

PA Resources operates Licence 12/06 and holds a 64% interest, and other project partners are Nordsofonden (Danish North Sea Fund) with 20%, Danoil Exploration with 8% and Spyker Energy with 8%.
