Located on Keyal Khwar, an Indus river tributary in Dasu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the hydropower project is projected to generate 426GWh of electricity per annum.

The project is estimated to cost €180m, with German financial institution KfW offering €97m in assistance.

"Following the fulfillment of all prerequisites, including detailed engineering design, the prequalification of firms for civil and electro-mechanical works of the project is under process and is likely to be completed very soon," the company said.

Besides the Keyal Khwar project, WAPDA is also undertaking the development of 14 other projects as part of its plans to enhance electricity generation and water storage in Pakistan.
