Numbered MSC119, the 40kg soil sample was collected and processed at Pangolin’s DMS plant in Francistown.
A concentrate was independently studied in Gaborone by a consultant who submitted the stone to C.F. Mineral Research in Kelowna, Canada which confirmed the diamond.
Weighing 0.005484 carats, the white diamond was retained on a standard Endecotts sieve with the mesh size 0.600mm and is therefore classified as a macro- diamond.
Pangolin Diamonds said that a field team is collecting follow-up samples on a close-spaced grid to determine the significance of the discovery.
