The two projects – Kavian Petrochemcial plant and West Ethylene Pipeline are among the Mehr Mandegar projects.

POGC’s Kavian Petrochemical plant is designed to produce two million tons of ethylene every year and has already started operations.

The petrochemical plant is said to be one of the largest ethylene producers in the world, according to the company.

The West Ethylene Pipeline, considered as the longest ethylene pipeline in the world, will be used to transport the ethylene produced at the Kavian Petrochemical facility to Andimeshk, Kermanshah, Kordestan, Mahabad and Miandoab petrochemical plants.

Additional production from the plant will be transported to petrochemical plants located in Mahshar Especial Economic Zone south of Iran.

The 1,200km long first phase of the pipeline consists of 8in and 24in pipelines.

Second phase of the plant is expected to become operational in 2013, with the supply of gas from the South Pars gas field phases 15, 16, 17 and 18.

The West Ethylene Pipeline will transport 1 million ton of ethylene produced from the Kavian plant and 500,000 ton from Morvarid petrochemical plant.
