Under the contract from the San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA), the JV will provide design and constructability reviews and also perform overall construction management of the project.

Design work on the dam raise project is underway and scheduled to be completed by late 2009. Construction work is to be done over 2009-2012.

The project involves building an RCC structure over the 67.7m high concrete gravity dam, which will raise it by 36m and increase the reservoir storage capacity by 170%.

The works are part of the client’s Emergency Storage Project, which is needed to ensure supplies to 2030 should there be an interruption to imported water.

In a statement, Parsons noted that the companies have worked together providing construction management services on other major dam projects, such as Diamond Valley Lake and Olivenhain dams in California, and Longtan in China.
