Wind power

Acquired from Pattern Development, the project will feature 65 wind turbines and 67 transformers. It is planned to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2016.

The company plans to use cash and credit facilities to finance the acquisition, and will use a portion of funds to pay construction debt.

Located in Benton County, Indiana, the Amazon Wind Farm project is expected to serve power 46,000 homes annually.

Pattern Energy has selected Siemens to supply wind turbines and transformers for the project. Siemens will also be responsible for the long-term service for the wind turbines.

Pattern Energy president and CEO Mike Garland said: "We have now surpassed the two gigawatt milestone in our portfolio, achieving growth of more than 100% in our owned capacity since the IPO."

Under a 13-year power purchase agreement, the wind power plant will supply electricity to Amazon’s electric grids that serve Amazon Web Services (AWS) datacenters. The supply deal can be extended up to 20 years.

Pattern Energy has rights of first offer to Pattern Development’s project development pipeline, which includes 4,500MW of wind and solar projects.
