The company, which acquired the wind farm from Pattern Energy Group in December 2014 for $113m, has an owned interest of 164MW in facility, while the remainder is owned by four institutional tax equity investors.

Located in Electric Reliability Council of Texas’ (ERCOT) north zone, the wind farm comprises 87 Siemens 2.3MW wind turbines.

American retailer Walmart will purchase 58% of the total expected output from the facility, under a 10-year power purchase agreement.

Walmart energy vice president Mark Vanderhelm said: "Walmart has a goal to be supplied by 100 percent renewable energy, and sourcing from wind energy projects — like the Logan’s Gap Wind Facility — is a core component in the mix.

"The energy we’ll procure from this facility represents nearly one-fifth of the U.S. portion of our goal to source seven billion kilowatt hours of renewable energy by 2020. That’s a significant leap forward on our renewable energy journey."

The remaining expected output from the project will be sold to a A-/Baa2-rated financial institution and at ERCOT spot market prices.

During the construction phase, the facility created 250 jobs, in addition to 550 workers, who were employed during peak activity.

The Logan’s Gap Wind facility will be connected to Oncor’s 138KV ComancheZephyr line that supplies power to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

In May, Pattern Energy acquired two operational wind power projects with a total a power generation capacity of 351MW in the US from Wind Capital Group.
