The $2.7m project is part of the company’s plans to help improve service reliability.

The project includes the replacement of equipment, including wire, insulators, fuses and cross-arms on a seven-mile section of sub-transmission line.

Plans also include replacing 104 wooden poles and the rebuild is anticipated to increase the capacity of the line by over 70%

Penelec regional president Scott Wyman said the company’s investment in infrastructure upgrades in Cambria County will continue to help it provide more reliable service to customers.

"These types of projects pay off over the long term with fewer and shorter service disruptions and result in a stronger system for future growth," Wyman added.

Penelec serves about 600,000 customers in 31 Pennsylvania counties.
