The UIC permit has been issued to Strata Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Peninsula Energy.

The permit is the first of the three main licenses the company requires to be granted for it to begin mining operations at Lance.

This deep disposal well (DDW) license allows Strata to construct and test five such wells in the Ross permit area.

The DDWs will be used to inject low-level wastes into an isolated rock formation at a depth in excess of 8,000ft below the surface.

It is anticipated that they will meet the water management requirement of an ISR operation at the Ross project.
