“Providing reliable water service to customers requires significant capital investment,” said John Pick, supervisor of field operations for Pennsylvania American Water. “These investments are necessary to rehabilitate and upgrade the area’s aging water infrastructure to ensure that our customers receive quality, reliable water service for years to come.”

The projects include:

In Lewisburg, the company is replacing about 1,300 feet of water main along North 3rd Street and more than 1,200 feet of main along Fairground Road, both with new eight-inch pipe.

In Milton, crews are installing 850 feet of eight-inch water main along Hepburn Street.

In addition, Pennsylvania American Water will begin installing more than 800 feet of water main along 7th Street in Watsontown in mid-June 2009.

The company expects to complete the pipe upgrades, including final paving restoration, by late summer.

During the course of the improvement projects, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences.
