According to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Eletrobas is interested in five project concessions and hopes to be able to begin studies shortly. The company held initial studies during a visit in June, it added.

The proposed plants would be located in Junin, Huancavelica, Puno and Madre de Dios.

The potential concessions come out of the Energy Integration Agreement for hydro power projects signed by Peru and Brazil.

Eletrobras is state power holding group with involvement in studies and shareholding in a range of major regional electricity companies, and it consequently has involvement in a wide generation mix.
