The projects also include of a 40 km West bank of Jamina bridge-Nalka gas transmission pipeline, a 856 km gas distribution network in southwestern region of Bangladesh and a 151 km Asuganj- Bakhrabad-Chittagong gas transmission loop line (in two phases).

“The total cost of these projects is $478.6 million, however, the rest of the amount would be local currency”, Muktadir Ali, the acting chairman of the Petrobangla said.

Petrobangla needs $120 million for control of gas seepage of titas gas field and four appraisal wells in Titas, $40.3 million for Dhanua-Elenga gas transmission pipeline, $10.6 for West bank of Jamuna Bridge- Nakla gas transmission pipeline, $48.6 million for gas distribution network in Southwestern area of Bangladesh and $128.1 million for the Asuganj-Bakhrabad-Chittagong gas transmission loop line.

“Although we ask fund from the ADB for the development of the Asuganj-Bakhrabad- Chittagong gas transmission loopline but the second phase of this project a 90 kilometer Bakhrabad-Feni gas transmission line work shall be implemented subject to the availability of gas in BGSL system,” Muktadir said.

Muktadir said the non-stop leakage of gas from Titas field has been ongoing unabated for the last five so they recognized the need to control the seepage as number one on the agenda, however, over the past four years Petrobangla has recognized this project as a top priority one but the ADB did not pay any heed.
