The 3-SPS-105 well is located in 2,072 m of water and 4.6 km north of discovery well 4-SPS-86B in the area of discovery evaluation plan.

The company claims to have identified good quality of oil and carbonate reservoirs at 5,820m depth and below the salt layer of the well.

To date, the well has been drilled to a depth of 6.178m, leading to the discovery of 352m significant oil column in continued and connected reservoirs.

In order assess productivity of these reservoirs, the company plans to undertake a formation test following completion of the drilling program.

Petrobras is also planning to resume the drilling operations of well 3-SPS-104DA, also known as 3-BRSA-1216DA-SPS-Carcara Northwest, later this year. The move will advance the company’s discovery evaluation plan (PAD).

Petrobras operates Carcara Northwest area with 66% stake while other partners include Petrogal Brasil with 14% and Barra Energia do Brasil Petroleo e Gas with 10% interest.

Queiroz Galvao Exploracao e Producao holds the remaining 10% stake.

Approved by Brazil´s Nacional Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP), the Carcará discovery evaluation plan is scheduled to be completed by March 2018.
