The pipeline forms part of Brazil’s growth acceleration program and will institute a significant shift in Brazil’s energy consumption from diesel fuel and oil to natural gas.

The pipeline’s initial capacity is 4.1 MMcm/d of gas but will rise to 5.5 MMcm/d of gas by September 2010.

Transpetro will operate the pipeline through an automated system, which will be conducted through the National Operational Control Center, located in Rio de Janeiro.
