It has been expected to contain up to 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 45 million barrels of condensate.

Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) has 45% in the $57.7 million joint venture with PVEP to develop the block.

This is the largest output of natural gas in northern Vietnam, Tran Duc Chinh, PVEP member council chairman said.

The discovery affirms northern Vietnam’s oil and gas potential, Chinh added.

All of the country’s existing oil and gas production lies off the southern coast but PetroVietnam has been quickening efforts to locate oil and gas in the central and northern regions as it look to lift output.
