PGCIL sources said “The transmission systems in the US, though big, are old systems. There is a stimulus package in the making to strengthen and rectify these old systems. We are talking with around four US firms to firm up partnerships for this augmentation programme.”

Another PGCIL source said “To start with, we are looking at a job size of around 400km of transmission links.”

PGCIL’s global strategies are part of the firm’s bigger plans to bolster its presence in other nations by managing networks in them. The company in an attempt to increase its overseas presence also intends to leverage its World Bank association.

PGCIL is seeking to establish its presence in India’s bordering neighbors, countries in West Asia, Central Asia as well as Africa. It is seeking engineering and consulting contracts in Tanzania, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Nigeria and Nepal.
