Commissioned in December 2013, the Seigneurie de Beaupré wind farms have a total contracted capacity of 365MW.

The first phase of 272MW (Farms 2 & 3) was commissioned in late 2013, while the second phase of 68MW (Farm 4) is slated to start operating at the end of 2014.

Additionally, the 25MW Côte-de-Beaupré wind farm built in partnership by Boralex and the Côte-de-Beaupré RCM is scheduled to commence operations in 2015.

Gaz Metro president and CEO Sophie Brochu and Boralex president and CEO Patrick Lemaire said in a joint statement the team is proud to celebrate the entry into service of Phase I of the Seigneurie de Beaupré Wind Farms, particularly in light of the project’s substantial economic spin-offs.

"Our 100% Quebec-based consortium has invested over $750 million to carry out this project, and over $360 million has been invested in other homegrown companies," Brochu and Lemaire added.

Member of the National Assembly Caroline Simard said the two wind farms can generate enough clean energy to supply annually 50,000 households.

"I would like to congratulate the promoters of this project, which was developed in an environmentally responsible manner and is a significant project for the Côte-de-Beaupré region," Simard added.

With a total installed capacity of 272 MW, the Phase I comprises 126 turbines will continue to supply renewable energy to Québec’s power grid for the next 20 years.

The project’s 68MW second phase and 25MW community project are scheduled to be commissioned in 2014 and in 2015 respectively.
