McKinley said that raising demand for limited energy sources like coal and oil will only lead to additional increase in price, causing consumers to suffer more. McKinley urged the Philippines government to look for other power sources like nuclear energy.

The electricity prices are reduce from using nuclear power plants due to the predictability of uranium prices, not like coal and oil which are susceptible to geo-political tensions.

Bataan nuclear power plant is the nation’s first nuclear power facility. The plant was supposed to operate commercially in 1986, but was eventually stopped due to opposition from various environmental and cause-oriented groups.

Every year Philippines government will set aside up to PHP40 million for the plant’s maintenance.
