The 570km Western Reach system would have comprised two new-build pipelines, with one dedicated to a mixture of propane, butane and condensate (NGL mix) and the other intended for segregated condensate service.

It would have traveled through Alberta’s Deep Basin area, which contains some of the most prospective liquids-rich geological horizons being developed in western Canada today, including the Montney and Duvernay zones.

PMC said it continues to seek options to participate in the expected growth in NGL volumes in Deep Basin region, whether through other newly constructed facilities, expansion of existing ones, or both.

Keyera will now pursue the initiative to develop a liquids pipeline system in northwest Alberta to NGL hub in Fort Saskatchewan.

The company is in the process of securing sufficient producer commitments to underpin construction.
